Which service is right for my dog(s)?

At Jennings Canine, we recognize that all dogs and families are unique! That’s why we start with a free phone consultation to determine how to best reach your training goals — there is no one-size-fits-all. Simply reach out to us here and together we will determine the best path forward.
What training methods do you use?

We use compassionate and effective science-backed techniques with a focus on positive reinforcement and sustainable results. We also “train the trainer” — meaning we ensure our training is easily replicated in the home by family members. This methodology results in effective, long-term solutions that are also stress-free and fun.
Do you offer group training or private classes?

We do not offer group training. Instead, our training programs are private and in-home. After all, we want to ensure your dog is learning what they need to where they live! In addition, we offer field trip training for socialization as well as reactive behaviors. These unique services address not only basic and advanced training, but also behavioral issues and aggression.
What age should puppies begin training?

The earlier the better! The first eight to 20 weeks of a puppy’s life represent a critical developmental window that shapes their lifelong behavior and temperament. During this formative period, puppies need to learn how to look to humans for guidance, build confidence in new situations, and develop healthy coping mechanisms for the everyday stresses of living in a human world.
We therefore recommend starting training as early as eight weeks to provide your puppy with socialization and foundational work.
Do you work with challenging behaviors such as reactivity or aggression?

This is a big YES! As a Behaviorist and Master Trainer, Jennings Canine is highly successful in managing and mitigating the most challenging behaviors. We are often contacted after other training programs have failed! We are highly specialized in helping aggressive or reactive dogs with barking, aggression towards human and/or dogs, anxious behaviors, potty problems, and other unwelcome activities. Our methodology promotes calm and confidence in both dogs and owners.
What do I need for the first training session?

At a minimum you will need lots of soft, high-value treats, a well-fitting collar, and a 6-foot non-retractable leash. Additional items may be required depending on your unique situation. Rest assured, Jennings Canine always provides a list of requirements prior to initial training.
Do you offer specialty services like hunting and service dog training?

Yes! As a certified Master Trainer with N.E.A.D.S. previously, Jennings Canine has extensive training of service dogs as well as police narcotic K9s. We also train dogs for scenting and hunting as well as tricks and off-lead training.
How do I sign up for your training services?

Just as our training is not one-size-fits-all, neither is our communication. We want to communicate how YOU want to communicate! Feel free to contact us with any questions or to sign up via our contact form, email, or by calling 508-769-2874. We are highly responsive!
